Intro to Wheel Throwing

Class Description

A private introduction to the pottery wheel with hands-on instruction throughout. There is no expectation to create something perfect. This lesson is simply about learning the process, getting comfortable with the wheel, and enjoying time with clay. You'll have the opportunity to keep one piece from your lesson, which your instructor will trim and glaze in the color of your choice before it is fired and ready for pickup or shipping. Additional pieces may also be kept and finished by instructor for $0.10 per cubic inch per piece. No prior pottery experience is needed. Instructor statement: "I am an Asheville based ceramicist. I earned my associate of fine arts from AB-Tech as well as a BA with a concentration in ceramics from UNCA. I enjoy throwing functional-ware as well as creating whimsical sculptures assembled using wheel thrown forms. I have experience teaching students that have never touched clay."
