Intro to Wheel Throwing

Class Description

A private introduction to the pottery wheel with hands-on instruction throughout. There is no expectation to create something perfect. This lesson is simply about learning the process, getting comfortable with the wheel, and enjoying time with clay. Up to 2 additional guests can be added per class. You'll have the opportunity to keep one piece from your lesson, which your instructor will trim and glaze in the color of your choice before it is fired and ready for pickup or shipping. Additional pieces may also be kept and finished by instructor for $0.10 per cubic inch per piece. No prior pottery experience is needed. Instructor statement: "I'm Makena, and I've been a potter for 16 years. I fell in love with the craft at a very young age and have now spent the majority of my life throwing on the wheel. In my personal practice, I tend to throw intuitively, making anything from 10 pound decorative vases to delicate tea sets. Whether you're looking to improve your throwing, or you're touching clay for the first time, I help teach fundamental wheel skills that'll help potters of all levels gain the confidence and ability to create beautiful pottery!
